2012 MacBook Pro, which has been sitting on the dining room table, mostly used for printing and scanning, since purchase back then...
Turns out it's not so bad after all:
The lack of a "Save As" option in Finder can be worked around by first "Dupilicating" and then saving as "Export To" -- this is 2 steps vs. the old 1, but does work. Pictures, and movies, remain distorted, however...
Finale and Word both work fine.
Firefox OK, but will have to deal with viruses on Chrome and Safari.
Hug-In program suffices for Photosmart Studio -- while its output is sometimes strange or non-existent, at least it is not so prone to crash...
Wondershare is perhaps vaguely replaced by a cumbersome combination of Handbrake and iMovie...
Will have to purchase a new visual-cable adaptor, as initial one did not connect properly (or is it the computer's fault? -- we shall see)...
Advantages? - better, more vibrant screen (although pictures remain darker -- even when screen brightness is turned up to a hard-on-the-eyes maximum -- and perhaps less distinct); ability to connect to printer / scanner and be receptive to various updates, faster processor with vastly more hard-drive storage space (c. 214 to c. 4)...
